Kora and Green Gorod Silk

A unique green and white Gorod Silk (Un-degummed Bengal Mulberry Silk) with teal Bishnupuri Terracotta horse motifs all over borders, body and pallu. The handwoven satin silk border is the highlight of a Gorod Silk. The word “Gorod” means ‘White’ while the etymology may have come from "gond" or gum. Gorod silk saris are distinguished by its red border and small paisley motifs. Silk fabric used to weave traditional Gorod saris is not dyed or degummed which keeps the purity factor of the fabric intact and therefore these saris have a sacred importance to the women in Bengal.
