Vintage Dhonekhali

A pure cotton vintage handwoven Dhonekhali with extra weft motifs all over in black and white, broad borders and ‘Khejur chhori’ on the pallu.

Since this sari has been worn, the fabric is now less stiff and falls softer. These saris are traditionally worn post light starching.
Dhonekhali is a traditional Bengal sari that is woven from cotton threads and distinguished by its lightness and transparency. Dhonekhali ‘taant’ was famous mainly for men’s dhotis and plain bordered saris. With a tighter and coarse  weave, it is more hardy. It's body colours with stripes and checks and contrasting borders with extra weft designs make this sari an extremely chic addition to one’s wardrobe.
